I'm Confuzzled....

Why is John Boy Walton in World War II?  And near Germany?!
If you've seen more episodes of The Waltons than I have, please comment below and tell me why on earth he's doing that instead of writing.  Please.

My Writing Life ~ In Pictures

Behold.  Dylan Bronson, one of my awesome-est secondary characters, evah.  To date.
(Of course, I've never dated him, but I wouldn't mind it that much....)
(This is Michael Bolton, by the way...)

I've been watching videos of Meryl Davis and Charlie White like mad for research lately... and enjoying it muchly.  : )  This Bollywood-inspired program got them first place in the Free Dance competition at the Olympics in 2010 and it's probably my favorite!

Check it out!
I love the fact that even though I can't ice dance doesn't mean I can't let my characters have fun doing it!!

Yes, my characters do this.  Pretty sure it's called a Death Spiral.  (Heehee... look at Charlie's face!)
I've also been reading up on ice dancing again so that I can polish their programs, so I was more than happy to find this, which describes how Meryl and Charlie perform this awesome straight-line lift.  If you want to see it in action, go here.  (Another favorite free dance - I've watched it a dozen times this week!)
I've put this novel on hold slightly and can only work on it when I'm done with my schoolwork each day, but hopefully I'll have the editing done and sent off to a few proof readers soon!  Huzzah!  And here's some more news for you guys - I think I might actually have a title nailed down!!  How cool is that?
I've also been working on my OYAN novel, which is going pretty well!  It's a 19th century 'pirate' novel, including lost treasure, evil captains, and a neat set of characters.  I've been thinking of putting some snippets up - would you guys like that?
PS: The reason why I haven't been posting lately is because I thought that since Tolkien was such an awesome guy, he needs to have a pretty long birthday celebration.  (Kidding, Schultz....)  My life has been pretty crazy lately, as some of you probably know, so yeah.  Hoping to do some more posting in the near future!!  : )

Happy 121st Birthday, J.R.R. Tolkien!

Without you, we wouldn't know what hobbits are.

Without you, we'd have no reason to spontaneously shout, "Get off the road!"

Without you, we'd think that gold rings were normal.

Without you, there'd be no reason to dress up and watch extended editions of movies with friends.

Without you, we wouldn't sound cool when we say like Captain Obvious, "A diversion."

Without you, we would have no good standards for great literature.

Without you, I know I'd be without one of my top favorite movie heroes.  (FARAMIR!!!)

Without you, I wouldn't be interested in literature at all.

Without you, I wouldn't have a reason to have a cake made house in a hill.

Without you, well... I would be completely fangirlish over The Scarlet Pimpernel.
(It's good to have balance in my passions.)

Thank you.

January 2, 2013

forget a new year's post - this is FRILLIONS of times more exciting!

Here are my stats, if you care.
  • 132 pages
  • 79,984 words, 7,397 of which were done between today and yesterday (Just shy of 80k!)
  • 18 chapters
  • 435,319 characters (Letters and semicolons and what have you - not humans.)
  • 174 KB of memory
All of which, sadly, needs to be insanely edited.  Just imagine, though!  It only took me two-thirds of a 9 oz bag of Mint M&Ms, which means that I have the rest of that bag, plus my 30 oz bag I got on clearance the other day, specifically reserved for editing.  There's a light at the end of this tunnel.  (Unfortunately, I think I'll need another package of Meadow Mint Hobbit Tea before long....  Oh, well.)

I thought I'd show you my reaction in pictures.  : )

New Year's Eve came and went and I woke up on New Year's Day feeling like this....

"I'm not done with my novel yet and it's 2013.  I am angry."

Then, I started writing.  And writing and writing and writing.  Pretty soon, I felt like a combination of Arthur Clenam and Amy Dorrit in the picture below.
Frustration and exhaustion.  Not much sadness until late last night when I realized that I was leaving Alec and Nikki.  (Not for long, mind you.  More later.)
Then, I finally finished it and felt like this.
Minus the really evil feeling, that is.
Then, I felt like dancing.
With some keys.  : )
Now, I just feel like this.
I also thought you'd be a little remotely interested in some pictures I put together for my two main characters, Nikki and Alec.

Nikki's personality is a mix of Amy Dorrit, Rapunzel, Christine Daae, Margaret Hale, Marguerite St. Just, and Mary Smith.  She kind of looks like all of them combined, but I haven't nailed down an actress yet.

Alec is like all of these guys.  The actor in the middle is Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Louis Connelly, August Rush).  I was watching a clip from August Rush the other day when it just hit me.  I couldn't stop bouncing up and down when I saw the picture on the bottom right.  Especially in the middle picture, taken from a movie he played in a few years ago.
He's Alec.  : )

Well, I need to go find some food.  I've been eating M&Ms and drinking water out of my souvenir cup from The Hobbit all day and feel in need of some sunflower seeds.
